Videoconference: New Video Bridge
The following information we provided regarding the new Video Bridge. The date of the new Video Bridge being activated is still not defined at this time.
The following is an outline of the changes in bridge operation when we activate the new bridge.
1. Video Bridge Access
a. Bridge dials out to all end points.
i. End points must be on.
ii. End point must be set to accept incoming calls.
iii. Some end points must dial out, see 1b.
iv. If an end point drops the connection during the conference, they must dial back in manually. (Must know dial number)
b. End points can dial into bridge
i. Penn State end points must dial 3333 plus unique ID of conference. Example 33331234
ii. Non-Penn State end points must dial bridge IP address, then using the far-end control, enter the proper conference then enter the password of the conference.
iii. Telephone end points dial 1-814-8658100 then enter conference password after the prompt.
iv. Conferences with ISDN end points must use the Polycom MGC-100 bridge.
2. Scheduling
a. Videoconference rooms scheduled to use the video bridge must allow for 15 minute lead time before start of a video bridge meeting. The bridge will dial out to end points 15 minutes before the start of the meeting.
b. The video bridge does not auto extend meetings. Set the end time appropriately.
i. Gives 2 minute warning.
3. Feature changes
a. If an end point sends H.239 content (Presses graphic button on remote) another end point cannot send content until the end point that is sending content stops sending content.
b. End points have access to customize their end-point layout screens view.
i. Using far-end camera control on the remote control, up and down control changes the layout view cycling through various screen layouts.
ii. The left and right control cycles through difference end points connected to the conference.
c. There is no Lecture Mode option. Each end point has the option to control their own screen layout. In an instructor/class scenario, the instructors end point can be set to view multiple end points and the class participates would view the instructor full screen layout.
