Packaging a PowerPoint Presentation

If you need to get a presentation ready to present somewhere outside of your typical office environment, the Package for CD tool may work for you. Even though it is called Package for CD this utility makes it possible for you to package a presentation on a USB flash drive as well. Using this feature, you can package together the presentation file, linked files, embedded fonts, and a program called the PowerPoint Viewer that will allow you to present a presentation on a system that does not have PowerPoint installed. To use this utility, click on the Office Button, select Publish, and then Package for CD. A dialog box will open to provide choices for the location of the packaged piece as well as options for adding files and security. Please note that the PowerPoint Viewer is only compatible with 97-2003 file formats (.ppt, .pot, .pps), so it will require the presentation to be saved in one of those formats. A message box indicating this will appear when you begin the process.
