There are several ways to advance slides in a PowerPoint presentation. Some methods require interactivity from the presenter (mouse click, space bar, Enter key), while others can produce a more automated hands-free presentation (slide timings, looping). There are many choices and considerations for each of the possible choices.
What has worked for you and what hasn't? Let's discuss how the various methods can be optimized to enhance presentations.
Iota Alpha Delta - It All Depends
I think in direct instruction/training, I still prefer to use the mouse click or keyboard tap method. I get much better control, even with animations. The auto advance methods are great when setting up a kiosk presentation for something like an open house or demo, but I don't like be ing forced into those timings in a live session.
As with most other things, you need to make it fit your own personal presentation style, and the type of presentation that you are giving. by controlling the slide myself, I have the opportunity to elaborate on a particular point, or answer questions or promote discussion, without feeling like I need to rush things along because the "show must go on!"
